I work in corporate human resources at a very large company and we decide who comes to work for us and who is not good enough for the position they interviewed for. It is a very hard decision because you are really going to impact another person’s life. Whether it was for the good or the bad, people would try the best recruitment in Bristol to get the best candidates for their jobs. And we decided a long time ago that we were going to do everything we could to find the right people for a job. When we posted any one position in our company, we would get over two hundred and fifty applications and most were from people who have never even had any experience in what we were looking for. People would just send a resume to see if they could get in the door, and it was frustrating to find someone to take it seriously.
It’s hard to take a person seriously when they apply to a job that has a specific skill set to go with it and people have never even gotten close to having any of the skills were are asking for. I think people are really just eager to be able to get into our company because it is such a good employer. I wanted to be able to tell people that they were not getting a shot because they did not have the skill set but we could only mail out a form letter to them. I want to be able to help people and tell them where they are going wrong but people said that was not a good idea and we should stick to the company policy. I think we should change that to help people so they could learn how to get a job.
